Sabres Blast Toronto 3-1

What was strange about this game was that it was a complete role reversal as how the Buffalo Sabres have been playing as of late. Unusual for them to score 3 goals in the first period and then hang on the rest of the game. They’ve become so adapt to comebacks that it was just becoming an expected occurrence for this team.

One of the hottest players in the National Hockey League in Evander Kane scored twice more Saturday night to give him 18 on the season and 11 pts over his last 14 games. Also, grabbing the spotlight was Jack Eichel with 3 assists on the night. Linemate Sam Reinhart also did some damage with a goal and a helper as well.

Kane opened the scoring at 4:13 of the first with his 17th after a pass from Reinhart and Eichel. Then just under a minute later on the powerplay, Sam Reinhart added his 12th to put the Sabres up 2-0 from Kyle Okposo and Jack Eichel. Then with just under two minutes left in the period, Evander Kane scored his 2nd of the game and 18th on the season. The assists went to Jack Eichel and Justin Faulk.

Toronto spoiled Robin Lehner‘s bid for the shutout at 15:57 of the 2nd period when Mitchell Marner scored his 15th from Tyler Bozak and Nikita Zaitsev. The Sabres were able to hold off the Maple Leafs for the remainder of the contest for the win.

The Sabres are right back at it back at First Niagara Center to play the Vancouver Canucks for a rare Sunday night game at 7:30 p.m. game.
