Kings Blank Buffalo Sabres, 2-0

Kings Blank Buffalo Sabres, 2-0

The Buffalo Sabres were unable to get anything past Jonathan Quick as he stopped all 26 shots while leading the Los Angeles Kings to 2-0 win Thursday night at the Staples Center. This was the second of two games between the clubs this season. Buffalo defeated the Kings 6-3 back on Dec. 13th at First Niagara Center in Buffalo, NY.

The Sabres did not provide any help offensively or on the defensive side for that matter. Sabres netminder Robin Lehner was solid in net once again making 34 saves on 36 shots he faced.  He can’t do it all as the Sabres have now been blanked in their past four trips to the Staples Center. All by the same 2-0 score.

Jarome Iginla and Adrian Kemp provided all the scoring the Kings needed as they fight for the playoff lives. They remain just four points out of the second wild-card spot behind the St. Louis Blues with the win.

The Sabres, however, unable to create much offense in this contest managing a mere 2 shots in the first on Quick while the Kings peppered Lehner with 15. They didn’t fare well over two periods either as the Kings held the 25-11 despite the score still notched at 0-0.

The only exciting part of the entire game from a Buffalo fans perspective was the bout between Sabres forward Nicolas Deslauriers and Kings forward Kyle Clifford midway through the final stanza. Both combatants got their shots in during this spirited toe to toe.

Buffalo went into the final minutes of the game with their net vacated but unfortunately took another loss to their record. The Sabres will head to Anaheim for the third and last leg in the vast state of California this season. The game against the Ducks is scheduled for a 10 p.m. ET start. The team will be looking to salvage something out the trip already down 0-2.
