Jack Eichel entered Friday’s game against the Devils having racked up 14 points in his previous 12 games. The Sabres forward stayed red-hot in New Jersey, adding a pair of goals, including the game-tying tally, in Buffalos’ 4-3 overtime win. Miles Wood, son of former Sabres forward Randy Wood, opened the scoring for the Devils, jamming a loose puck under Robin Lehner. Wood inserted himself into a crowd at the top of the crease and was able to slide a shot into the net for his 10th goal of the season. Lehner turned aside other early New Jersey scoring chances, ending the period with 11 saves.
