Marco Scandella‘s last-second overtime gal gave the Buffalo Sabres a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday. Scandella took the drop pass from Johan Larsson and found the back of the net with 0.2 seconds remaining in the extra frame, snapping a three-game losing skid for the Sabres.
Rasmus Ristolainen‘s second goal in three games gave the Sabres an early 1-0 lead. Ristolainen’s point shot beat Jimmy Howard 3:39 into the game for the defenseman’s sixth goal of the season. The Red Wings evened the score in the opening minutes of the 2nd period on Jonathan Ericsson‘s third of the year, but Evander Kane‘s power play tally put Buffalo back in front less than 10 minutes later.
