Sabres win seventh in a row, defeat Flyers 5-2

The Sabres used a four-goal outburst in the first period to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2 on Wednesday night at KeyBank Center. The win is Buffalo’s seventh straight.

Jeff Skinner scored his 15th goal of the season with less than four minutes gone in the opening stanza, giving Buffalo a 1-0 lead. Jason Pominville assisted on the game’s first goal. Almost a minute and a half later Tage Thompson scored his second goal in as many games, making it a 2-0 Sabres’ lead. Vladimir Sobotka and Kyle Okposo were credited with assists on the score.
