Sabres extend win streak to nine, defeat Detroit 3-2 in shootout

The Sabres are in first place in the National Hockey League after scoring a 3-2 shootout win against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night at Little Caesar’s Arena. Buffalo’s 34 points in one more than both the Tampa Bay Lightning and Nashville Predators.

The Sabres took advantage of the game’s first penalty, helping the team enjoy a 1-0 lead over Detroit. The Red Wings were penalized for too many men on the ice, and the blue and gold scored on the ensuing man advantage. Jeff Skinner scored his 18th goal of the year with a rebound chance.
