Sabres suffer first preseason loss to Blue Jackets, 4-1

For the first time in 2019, a Buffalo sports team dropped a preseason game.

After defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-4 in overtime just last night, the visiting Sabres fell 4-1 to the Columbus Blue Jackets inside Nationwide Arena this evening. Jake McCabe scored the team’s lone goal in the Tuesday night loss.

The scoring got started early for the home Blue Jackets in the opening period of play. Sabres forward C.J. Smith took a slashing minor just 42-seconds into the contest, and Columbus struck 10-seconds later early on their first powerplay.
