Sabres Assistant Coach Granato Hospitalized

The Buffalo Sabres today reported that Assistant Coach Don Granato has been hospitalized with a severe case of pneumonia. It is also said that he will be forced to take an undisclosed leave of absence.

In his stead, the Sabres have temporarily filled the vacancy with Rochester Americans Head Coach Chris Taylor. To accommodate Taylor’s absence, his Assistant Gord Dineen fills the vacancy.

Also, serving as Dineen’s assistant will be Sabres Development Coach Adam Mair. The Amerks kick off the 2019-20 season this Friday when they host the Syracuse Crunch. The Sabres season kicks off on Thursday in Pittsburgh against the Penguins.
