Sam Reinhart scored to set a new career-high in points and the Buffalo Sabres played to a 35-24 shot advantage, but another comeback effort came up short in what ended as a 4-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center on Sunday.
The Sabres trailed 2-1 after Reinhart scored with 55.2 seconds remaining in the second period, then outshot the Devils 11-6 in the third.  Read More

The New York Rangers were able to score early in the first period and never looked back in their 6-2 win over the Sabres on Friday night at KeyBank Center.

Kyle Okposo said Tuesday morning that the Buffalo Sabres would need to acknowledge that their chances might be limited against the New York Islanders, but be ready to capitalize when they did come.

Although they had just stood toe-to-toe with one of the NHL’s top teams for most of 60 minutes, the positives were of little consolation to the Buffalo Sabres following a 3-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets at KeyBank Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Sabres outshot the Jets, 36-29, and played the Central Division leaders to a 1-1 tie until late in the third period. Blake Wheeler buried a backdoor feed from Josh Morrissey with 3:55 remaining to give the Jets the lead, and Mark Scheifele added an empty-net goal in the game’s dying seconds. Read More

It was a scene that Buffalo Sabres fans are all too familiar with: Thomas Vanek lurking near the crease late in the third period, looking to cash in on a rebound after a shot bounced off Linus Ullmark.

In order to get to that rebound, Vanek would first have to go through Rasmus Ristolainen. The 6-foot-4 defenseman acted as a wall in front of the Buffalo net, jostling the former Sabre to the ground while Ullmark covered the puck. Read More

Marco Scandella and Jeff Skinner scored to erase a two-goal deficit in the last five minutes of regulation, but the salvaged point was of no consolation for the Buffalo Sabres following a 6-5 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes at KeyBank Center on Thursday night.

The Sabres and Hurricanes entered the contest tied with 58 points in the standings, three out of a playoff spot. The sentiment from the Sabres afterward was that the five goals they scored should have been enough to win, if not for more defensive miscues. Read More
